Medical Care
Each kitten or cat rescued by CLAWS is brought to Sandwich Animal Hospital for a complete checkup and treatment.
Checkup and treatment procedures include the following:
1. Tested for Feline Aids (FIV).
2. Tested for Leukemia (FELV).
3. Given a Distemper shot.
4. Given a current Rabies shot (if the cat is old enough) and then fitted with a collar and Rabies Tag.
5. Males are neutered; females are spayed.
6. They are also de-wormed (most kittens are born with worms) - by a caring CLAWS member.
7. They are checked for ear mites and treated if found.
8. Treated with FrontLine to protect them from fleas and ticks (must be performed each month) - by a caring CLAWS member.
9. The overall health of each cat or kitten is also checked and determined.
10. Any additional health or medical needs are provided by Sandwich Animal Hospital or by a member of the CLAWS organization.
As you can see, your adoption fee is well spent. You not only get a loving cat, but a healthy cat as well.
